And damn is it disappointing. I mean, I guess I don't know what I was expecting. And admittedly, the Iron Man costume has to be hard to pull off in live action form, but still, look at this.
He looks like a discarded Mega Man villain. Actually, not even a discarded one. He looks almost exactly like Hard Man:

Am I in the wrong? Am I unable to see the badassness of this costume? Discuss.
Also, I got the Hard Man image from a pretty hilarious summary of all pre-X Mega Man villains: Mega Man Mania

I like that they are trying to stick with the original-ish costume. That's what they did with Spidey (though not the Green Coblin). I just wish his helmet was a little bit more... modern. Unless this takes place in the 1970s, as well, they are going to have to explain alot for Iron Man being in Vietnam fighting the Mandarin. The idea of an Iron Man anything is sort hokey to me, but that's because I don't think Iron Man ever functioned outside of the Avengers well until Civil War.
Actually, that is a picture of Tony Stark's Mach 1 prototype Iron Man suit that he builds while he is being held POW by terrorists in Iraq. His leg is fucked up and builds this suit out of scrap parts from weapons and whatnot. This is only the first of like 3 suits they are going to use in the movie. It is supposed to be a throwback to the very first suit as well. So all in all they took two awesome ideas and merged them into the most practical homage ever. It looks totally badass and I'm stoked.
Sweet. That's alot better than just the old suit.
